I am driven by a passion for education and training. With more than two decades of experience, from teaching in Flemish schools to my current role at the European School in Laeken , my focus is on the academic and personal growth of students. The aim is for them to achieve the 8 key competences as defined by the European School system.
My unique approach combines deep classroom experience with strategic thinking, linking pedagogy with innovation. I integrate GreenComp and DigComp into practical learning experiences and am committed to inclusive and future-oriented education.
Personal experiences, from my biology studies to my work at the Belgian Nuclear Research Centre and my role as a swimming coach, have shaped me into a reflective and engaged educator.
I see the future of education in its ability to teach our students to be able to respond to digital transformation with individual critical thinking.
European schools focus on the development of 8 key competences, skills that are essential for personal growth, social integration, active citizenship and future employment. These competences are not linked to specific subjects, but transcend disciplines and form a foundation for lifelong learning.
The eight key competences are essential for personal development, social inclusion, active citizenship and employability. They form the basis for lifelong learning and help you keep up in a rapidly changing world. Each competence – from digital skills and communication to problem-solving and cultural awareness – is crucial for effectively tackling challenges.
I believe that success comes from the ability to combine these skills and use them flexibly. The challenge for us in the classroom will be to combine the education of future responsible citizens who will ensure the sustainability of our society and our way of life.
