My hobbies are a reflection of my values—discipline, teamwork, and a passion for learning.
I was a competitive swimmer for many years, even representing the national team from 1984 to 1989. That experience taught me the importance of fair play, perseverance, and pushing through challenges. As a certified Trainer A, I’ve spent over 20 years coaching swim teams at the national level, where I’ve learned how to motivate others and work together toward shared goals. I also teach at the Vlaamse Trainerschool, where I help new trainers develop their skills and confidence.
My love for water extends beyond swimming—I’m also a certified two-star diver, which allows me to explore the beauty and complexity of the natural world. This connection to nature complements my scientific background in biology and chemistry, helping me maintain a balance between physical activity and intellectual curiosity.
I enjoy designing training programs and structuring swim schools, which lets me combine creativity with organization. I believe in never giving up, and I try to instill that mindset in both my students and athletes. Whether I’m coaching, teaching, or diving, I always strive to create environments where respect, collaboration, and growth are central. I find joy in helping others discover their potential and overcome obstacles. My hobbies have shaped not only how I spend my time but also how I approach life and work. They remind me that learning happens everywhere—in the lab, in the classroom, and in the pool.
I value the balance between science and sport, between thinking and doing. Above all, I believe that with the right mindset and support, we can all go further than we think.
